This song...

...kicks so much ass. I'm not going to complain about the DrillNB loop in the beginning, because you used it correctly. When everything exploded at 0:13, I was amazed. The ethnic touch really adds to it, and I'm a huge fan of melodic drum n bass. I'm actually going to download this, and I hardly download music from Newgrounds anymore. Be proud :D

BTW, I heard a melody that was identical to the melody from ParagonX('s No. 5, but it's not a big deal because it fit perfectly with the rest of the song.

NemesisTheory responds:

Haha, yeah. Drumkits those days were hard to come by for some reason, had to use the tools at hand. It worked out okay once things started kicking in though, much like you said. ;D And thanks, I am. <3

And good ear. I Thought No5 was awesome and I love the original track in Super Double Dragon, so I figured I'd put a nudge in there for great justice.

People, please...

...stop using that Drill n' Bass loop FL comes with. It's so annoying to me just to hear that snare now. That loop is way to overused. At least layer it with some other samples. Also, I only heard about one or two fills in the whole song. Add more, so the drums don't get annoying. As far as the rest of the song goes, I guess it's ok, but I agree that it's repetitive, and the beginning bassline should have been used more.

Navarone666 responds:

i didnt just use the loop, i sliced it and changed the pattern around to my liking, but yeah, i did use it i guess. and this was my first song so gimme a break xD... ummm....yeah and i agree with the adding more part, i might redo this song eventually...hmm...thansk for the listen anyways

Definitely good.

Not, good(ish), but plain out good. I think you sort of got the effect of a radio in the background in the beginning, but I agree with paranoiddj01 that they could have been built up more, rather than just a sudden drop.

Good overall, though.

Extra points for the name Salt too, I love salt.

This isn't DnB, it's definitely hip hop. At least, according to the drums and tempo. But as far as the song goes, It's ok, I guess. Repetitive, definitely. But whatever.

SHADOWFOX2 responds:

Haha wow...hip hop hmm? I'm not seeing anyone rapping to this at all. The tempo's a little fast, and it would be a rather unique track if anyone could put up with its change in rhythm. Defintely repetitive? I don't exactly share your view, but I'll take it into consideration. It's just not the typical DnB you are used to listening to, with the extreme breakbeats and everything. It's more of a smooth, chill, liquid DnB. Thanks for your criticism!

Holy shit man

At 22 seconds, it does create a shitload of white noise. I actually like it quite much. But that bass... sounds like a grinder, I want to make one now. This song is epic, I'm downloading.

Hmm...

I'm sorry, but it seems either you've just changed your style a lot, or your DnB has gotten worse. The drums sound weak compared to everything else. And there's A LOT going on. Not that it's bad, but I'm just saying. It sounds very busy, ALMOST to the point where it's too much. But for 3 hours, it's good :D

Go ahead, criticize me, but it's my opinion.

TheComet responds:

and I respect your opinion, it's honest, relatively blunt, and tells me everything I need to look at and improve next time around :)

I need to stop working with my headphones on as often as I do, they really jack up the basslines and tend to make the drumlines feel harder than they really are, and make sub basslines sound stronger than they are.
Hearing this over speakers confirms what you said, especially the crowded bits

There they are!

There are those Pendulum drums I sent you. They sound good in this song. It sounds SORT OF like Pendulum only because at one part I hear a saw lead, and on top of Pendulum drums, it reminds me of them. As far as reeses go, it's ok, but work on it a little more. All I hear is a sub for the better part of the song. The reese is only apparent in the beginning. You need to add some more texture to it to make it stand out from the sub. Then when you put the two together, it sounds amazing. Just make the reese a bit more dirty sounding. Distortion to the max, man. I even phase and chorus mine. But I think yours just needs a little more distortion. And movement. It's just in a flat melody. Now in a lot of songs, that will work fine, but for this song I need to hear go "wah wah" a little more. Just and at 1:20 and other places throughtout the song, I hear two bass notes clash, and its sounds ugly. Might wanna fix that.

Just my two cents.

Longest review ever from me! You should be proud!

Yes!

Your music is a lot better and more diverse now that you've gotten a new program. I love this song. And you've finally put a sub bass in your songs! It's only natural for DnB to have one.

Great job.

Hey...

Don't wanna burst your bubble, but I don't think you made that break. I downloaded it somewhere once. You didn't even slice it, man. I'd give this a 9/10 overall, but you lost one point for that.

PS I don't want to be a dick.

Peptotrippin responds:

What are you talking about?

First of all, there are like 3 drums samples playing at once.

Second of all, I did slice it.

As you can hear.

If you listen to the song.

Hmm...

Hate to be the first to give this lower than a 10, but you either need to turn up the drums or turn everything else down. Then it would be perfect. The melodies are catchy, but that lead is way too loud compared to the drums.

BTW, I hardly hear a bass, either, but I know it's there, I can feel it lol.

Peptotrippin responds:

Yeah, they call that sub bass.

I make drum & bass which I upload on www.soundcloud.com/1 shibumi. I don't submit (often) to NG anymore, but feel free to use whatever I have posted here. But you should know that I've gotten a lot better!
