Amazing

gfhdfhgdghdfgh this is great!

As I told you before, you could get some real exposure for this! Send it to some real youtube promoters like Skankandbass or jsaltzz... I know skankandbass would probably put this up. It's great man, keep it up!

I did NOT expect this on NG. This is great! The beefy snare is sexy man. And like Afterfall said, the intro was great, I love the synths. The buildup was amazing, I love how it drops. You've got some talent, keep it up!

Intense

It IS indeed very intense. With some proper equipment, you'd be a beast, man... the only problem with this tune is mixing. It's too high-pitched overall - not enough lows. The kick needs some lows for a nice THUD in there, and the snare needs more mids for some strength. The bass is sweet, you've got some reese skills man. I just suggest putting a sub bass under there, for some actual bass. This could be truly massive, keep it up! And if I may ask, what equipment are you currently using?

thanks ackute i was actually just gonna tell u about this. Equipment wise i've only got my crappy comp (one you saw in the picture), my grandparents comp which I can only access once in awhile, and a bunch of ipod headphones lol. And if I may inquire... lol.. list?.!%2

but i've got some cash saved up and will eventually buy real stuff

Daaaaaamn

Nice job man. There's that sub. This is a quality liquid tune. You'll go far if you keep this up.

Yes. This song is great. Damn, what you'd be able to do with monitors or better headphones...

thanks i cant wait to get some actual audio equipment!

Hey, nice job man

This is a lot better than the last tune I heard from you. I like it a lot, actually. The bassline is really good and the drum fills are also nice. It has a good drop too. The ideas are great, as CMon5 said. I have to agree with him about the bass and drums. You need a sub and a harder reese here, as well as some harder drums. Otherwise, it's flawless, actually :| Looks like you just need some better headphones for mixing, and you'll be on your way. Once you do get some good headphones/monitors, you have to come back to this song. It's great.

Keep it up and you'll get on my list easily man!

Hopefully

I see you follow Liquicity, so you must know what real drum & bass is, so hopefully you'll appreciate this review unlike some other people I've reviewed. Ok, I'll start from the top:

0:00 - 0:11 ~ Nice sound here. Really great for an intro to a liquid tune, and I like the chord progression and sound choice. Sounds really nice. I hear this thing that sounds to me like a low-passed guitar. I like it.

0:12 ~ I believe this was the drop. Not bad, but perhaps it could use a little more of a buildup.

0:12 - 0:34 ~ Pads. Too loud. They sound nice, but they're louder than the drums, which should be the main focus. Just lower the pads a tad here.

0:34 - 0:56 ~ This is a good section. The pads aren't overly loud (although personally I'd still lower them a little here, but it's fine as is) and I like the bell-like synth. Stopping the drums for a bar at the end of this section leaving only the hihats was a nice touch.

0:56 - 1:18 ~ Pretty much the same as 0:12 - 0:34.

1:18 - 1:51 ~ Nice chime sounds in the background. The piano sounds good too. The breakdown is good.

1:51 ~ Originally I thought this drop was flat, but then I listened again, and it sounds fine.

1:51 - 2:24 ~ Also the same as 0:12 - 0:34.

2:24 - 2:47 ~ Nice break from all the pads. Could use a little something here though, maybe that bell synth? Or just some sound effects in the background?

2:47 - 3:08 ~ Also the same as 0:12 - 0:34, but with the addition of the bell synth. Sounds nice, but there's too much. Either mix it better so the sounds all fit in with each other without lumping together and sounding too full, or take some unnecessary stuff out.

Overall, it wasn't bad, it's refreshing to see someone who knows what real drum & bass is on Newgrounds, because you seem like you know about it. The drums sound nice, too - they are good samples, and I like the ethnic-sounding percussion in the background. The drums need to come through more though; as I was saying, those pads are too loud at times and overpower your nice drums. Showcase those drums. Also worth notice is the lack of a sub! That just has to be in there, man.

If you don't mind, I'd like to give this tune a little remix :D

It was OK... I can't listen in too great detail because someone is sleeping in the other room and I don't feel like wearing my headphones. But from what I do hear, the pads are nice, but a bit loud compared to the drums (even for ambient). And TheKoltred, while being an ass about it, was right - it needs a bass. He didn't say it needs a "wobble saw bass detuned 50 cents." A regular ol' sub would do this song great justice. That's pretty much all that's missing, and then the mixing could be a little better. But overall, not a bad song. Keep it up.

Hi there

I'm gonna get straight to the point. You certainly know what drum & bass is, as opposed to a large number of artists on NG. Now onto the actual content of the song... the intro was an odd length, not one I'm used to in drum & bass, but that doesn't matter so much. You do know the structure of a drum & bass track, you're just doing it too short imo lol. Yep. Not to be a dick here, but I don't think this sounds like Spor at all, although I can tell how it's influenced by him. The bass is REALLY wobbly, which is great, and I like it, but I'm not detecting any sub here :( Just layer your current bassline with a sub and happiness will ensue.
Now onto the drums... They were good, I like how certain hats were sidechained to the kick (or so it sounded...). My biggest complaint with the drums is the snare's lack of power. Hopefully you didn't reverb it, because it sounds like you did... that takes a lot of power out of the snare. It's really high pitched, and doesn't really stand out in the mix; I like its high frequencies though, so I'd suggest layering it with a thicker snare... one that has power in the 250-300 Hz range (not exact values, I don't have any of my EQs open to check, but it's around there.) In the intro, the kick sounds nice and powerful, but when it drops, I don't feel the kick is punching through as much as it should.

So basically those are my only complaints about the whole song - the lack of sub, and the lack of power in the kick and snare.

Also the end is pretty sudden. But good job overall.

5/5, because it's actually drum & bass

Fuiste responds:

I'm so thankful for reviews like this. As I keep saying, I'd rather get a 5 from someone who knew what they were talking about than a 10 that just says, "it was awesome" I've gotten considerably better at making drums since I did this track too, and yes, the snare is reverbed, my bad... I've moved into a more electro-breaks style recently, but I still make the occasional DnB track here and there. I might upload one soon.

Yeah man.

This song is great. Drum & bass on Newgrounds usually isn't drum & bass - but this is. You should be proud of this, and yourself, because there are very few songs on NG that I like as much as I like this. The drums are nice and hard, but if I had to say anything about them, it'd be to make the snare harder, but it's good as is in my opinion. The reese was pretty awesome, man. And of course, that piano... sounded real, nice job with it. Is it from a synth/samples/recording or what? It sounds like someone actually playing it.

Overall, amazing job. Nice combination of genres. I think I'm downloading this... and I literally NEVER download NG music anymore... so that's another reason to be proud. Good work.

Awesome! Glad you like it. The piano is kind of played by me.. I believe it was some kind of VST plug + my MIDI keyboard

I make drum & bass which I upload on www.soundcloud.com/1 shibumi. I don't submit (often) to NG anymore, but feel free to use whatever I have posted here. But you should know that I've gotten a lot better!
